Brock Purdy Posts Perfect Passing Rating In 49ers Win

Nov 20, 2023 1:01 AM

Roughly 30 minutes after becoming the first San Francisco 49ers quarterback in history to attempt 20 or more passes and post a perfect 158.3 passer rating in the same game, Brock Purdy had multiple thoughts.

First, Purdy was proud to etch his name in the record book and have it mentioned along with Joe Montana, who is the only other Niners starter to achieve a perfect rating in a game with at least 10 attempts, a feat he accomplished in 1989. Second, Purdy pointed out that just because the passer rating goes no higher doesn't mean he believes it was a "perfect" game.

Cowboys To Add Jimmy Johnson To Ring Of Honor

Nov 19, 2023 6:18 PM

Thirty years after he coached the Dallas Cowboys, Jimmy Johnson is going into the team's ring of honor.

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones made the announcement prior to Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers after Johnson spent time in the locker room. The halftime induction will take place at AT&T Stadium on Dec. 30 against the Detroit Lions.

"It feels right," Jones said. "It feels rewarded by what it represents, all of the times that we had. There were traumatic times. I'm not trying to be overly dramatic, but nice little scars. Beautiful scars, 30 years ago during that particular time. So appropriate that Jimmy Johnson should be recognized in this manner by any definition you want to come up with.

Adam Thielen: Panthers' Offense 'Not Hitting On Any Cylinders'

Nov 10, 2023 8:43 AM

Adam Thielen was critical of the Carolina Panthers' offense after the team's 16-13 loss to the Chicago Bears on Thursday night.

The offense put up 213 yards and 12 first downs on nine drives, reaching the red zone just once and never getting closer than the 15-yard line.

"We're just not hitting on all cylinders right now. We're not hitting on any cylinders," Adam Thielen said. "It's an embarrassing effort. I think everyone's just embarrassed, you know, put up what, six points on offense.

"Like, we didn't do anything. That's embarrassing when your defense is playing the way they're playing, especially the way they're playing. It's embarrassing. And like we talked about, we're putting in good practices. We're doing the right things; building the momentum that way, but it's just not translating. That's tough."
